Andy Warhol

Liz, 1964

Offset lithograph in colours on wove paper
Signed, from the edition of approximately 300, published by Leo Castelli Gallery, New York
23½ x 23¼ in (595 x 590 mm)

In the mid-1960s Elizabeth Taylor defined what it was to be the ultimate star: a cultural phenomenon that was no longer confined to the woman alone but known to the world simply as Liz. There could not have been a more perfect alignment of artist and subject than Warhol and Liz. Perhaps the most famous depiction of the biggest superstar by the original superstar artist, Warhol's portrait of Liz is an historic paradigm of Pop Art from a breath-taking moment in Art History and has become an indisputable icon for our age.

This is an exceptional and pristine impression with fresh colours, which was purchased from a Private US collection on behalf of a Private UK Collector.
